Heartwarming Matching

EQU Lab held a heartwarming event at McMaster University and Hamilton Nations on 20th May in 2022 , where our communities were given the opportunity to make new friends while receiving free flowers. The event was a resounding success, with students from diverse backgrounds coming together to connect over a shared love of nature and community. EQU Lab's team of volunteers created a warm and welcoming environment, encouraging our communities to engage in meaningful conversations while picking their favorite flowers. The event not only provided a fun and engaging activity for students but also helped to foster a sense of belonging and community in Hamilton. Through initiatives like these, EQU Lab is creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for our communities.

Denim Diy

At EQU lab, we organize various activities to promote community engagement and integration. One of our activities is the "Denim DIY", where participants learn how to repurpose old denim clothing into unique and stylish items. This activity is not only a fun and creative way to recycle old clothes, but it also promotes sustainable fashion practices.

Dundas Peak

On October 8, 2022, EQU Lab organized a hike for minorities. We started at the base of the mountain and ended the hike at Dundas Peak, where a group of us walked up the trail to the top to get a full view of Hamilton. The experience of hiking in a group setting fosters a sense of community and social connection. This is especially important for minority families who may feel isolated or marginalized in their communities. We hope the hike will provide them with an opportunity for cultural exchange and learning, where participants can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other's cultures. This can help break down barriers and promote diversity and inclusion in these spaces.

Second-hand clothing recycle

At EQU lab, we are committed to promoting sustainable fashion practices and reducing textile waste. Our "Second-Hand Clothing Recycling" activity encourages participants to donate their gently used clothing items, which are then sorted and repurposed. The clothing items are either donated to those in need or used in our "Denim DIY" workshop to create unique and stylish items. This activity not only reduces textile waste, but it also helps support our mission of promoting equality and assisting minorities in the Hamilton community.
